Pool Rules 2022
* Be respectful of guards & each other * Play safely * Clean up after yourself *
  1. Before you swim: For your safety, no one should swim alone.  All non-swimmers must be accompanied in the pool by a swimmer. The maximum number of swimmers allowed in the pool is 816. The pool capacity may be limited during allotted extra hours when staffing is minimal. All persons using the pool do so at their own risk. Owners and management are not responsible for accidents or injuries.
  2. Hours of Operation: The pools are open from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm during peak season. Hours are reduced during opening and closing weeks when school is in session. Please refer to the clubhouse and website for updated information. These hours are subject to change due to, but not limited by, available sunlight, inclement weather, and programming needs.
  3. Thunder/Lightning: Pools will close for 30-minute increments upon each occurrence of thunder or lightning. All bathers must exit the pools immediately when closing notice is given for thunder and the pools and pool deck in cases of lightning.
  4. Lap Lanes: Prior to the opening of the pool, those interested in lap swimming may use the lap pool only from 6:00 to 10:00 am.  Monday through Friday and from 8:00 to 10:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. You must be continuously swimming, MUST be 16 years of age or older to participate in lap swimming, and complete and sign a Lap Swim waiver. No exceptions. Two (2) lap lanes will be open at all times for lap swimming only in the lap pool. During Swim Team practices, the Swim Team shall have exclusive use of all lap lanes. Any changes will be posted to the website and front desk. See pool attendants for permitted areas of use during these times.
  5. Guests: This is a private pool for use by members and their guests only. Please refer to the current guest policy for details.
  6. Management reserves the right to deny use of the pool to anyone at any time. Admission to the pool may be denied to any person having a skin infection, rash, nasal, eye or ear discharge, sore or inflamed eyes, communicable disease, or open sores.
  7. What to Wear: Bathing suits and shower shoes only allowed in the pool. Please, no undergarments, cut-offs, or street clothes. It is recommended that all persons shower before entering the pool. Persons who are incontinent or not toilet-trained must wear approved swimming diapers and plastic covers in the pool. THIS MEANS NO CLOTH OR REGULAR DIAPERS. SWIM DIAPERS ARE NOT DESIGNED OR GUARANTEED TO BE LEAK PROOF AND CAN STILL CONTAMINATE THE WATER. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CAREGIVERS TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES IN ORDER TO PREVENT A 4 - 13 HOUR POOL CLOSURE (25 minutes in cases of vomit): a) Persons who have vomited, displayed a fever, or have had a loose bowel, should not be allowed in the pool for 24 hours. b) Caregivers should remind children to frequently use the rest room facilities when visiting the pool. c) First-time offenders will be asked to obtain appropriate swimwear (see Front Desk; some may be available for a fee). Subsequent swimwear violations may result in fines
  8. What to Leave at Home: No glass allowed in the pool or on the deck. No food or drink allowed in the pool (except water). No animals or pets allowed in the pool or on the deck. Exceptions will be made for service animals as defined by the ADA. Inflatables, water guns, projectile toys, water balloons, foam-based balls or weaponry, and hard-type toys are prohibited. Chewing gum is prohibited in the pool. No smoking on the pool deck or on facility grounds. This includes, but is not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vapor, cigarillos, or any related device. No person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed to use the pool.
  9. Pool Etiquette: No running. No boisterous or rough play. No pushing or shoving. No diving allowed. Spitting, spouting water, blowing the nose, and similar unhygienic actions are prohibited in the pool. Verbal abuse of staff or members may result in loss of facility access. Any discrepancy with the lifeguard staff should be directed to the pool manager on duty. Distracting the attention of the lifeguard is dangerous and prohibited. Noise volumes for music or conversation should not be so loud as to interfere with other residents', guests', or lifeguards' ability to be heard. Violators will have two warnings from Amberly staff and then may be asked to leave the pool area.
  10. Pool Equipment/Property:  Chairs and tables may not be reserved. No patio furniture allowed in any water. Climbing on the lifeguard stands or tampering with lifeguard equipment is strictly prohibited.  Due to weight limits and slipping hazards, no one is allowed on the Amberly center island at any time.
  11. Breaks: Both pools will be closed for pool breaks during the last ten minutes of each hour for everyone under the age of 16. Infants (ages 12 months and below) may remain in the large recreational pool if they remain in the arms of an adult at all times. All who are out of the pools during this 10-minute break are required to remain at least four (4) feet back from the pool edge.
  12. Slides/Water-Features:  Only one rider at a time on any pool slide. No climbing up the slide or up the sides of the structures. To use the large pool slide, persons must be at least 48 inches tall or have passed the swim test as prescribed by the lifeguards. Slide riders must follow the directions of the lifeguards on duty at all times. Residents and guests cannot use the large pool slide if there is not a lifeguard on duty at the tall slide station. Swim tests are administered during pool breaks. Those passing the swim test will receive a wrist band; this should be kept for each visit to the large pool slide. Swimming ability is at the discretion of the lifeguards and may be re-assessed at any time if safety is a concern or if the wrist band is not worn. All other slide rules for the tall slide are located at the staircase to the slide. Please make yourself familiar with these rules. For the safety of everyone, anyone on the tall slide or the play structure slide must be able to slide alone without a flotation device. Sliding/riding on someone’s lap on the slide is not permitted for safety reasons.
  13. In Case of Emergency: The first aid kit and the AED are located on the wall at the lifeguard station. The emergency telephone is located near the fitness room below the balcony.
  14. Departing the Pool Deck: Residents and guests are expected to clean up their area as needed during use and prior to leaving the area. Fence gates are for EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY. Any person using the fence gates to enter or exit the property without specific authorization from Amberly staff will receive one verbal warning and may result in loss of facility access. Guests and Residents should enter and exit through the main lobby unless directed otherwise from the staff.  Wet bathing suits are not allowed in the building. Please make every effort to dry off as much as possible. Shirt, appropriate street clothes, and shoes are required if you choose to remain in the building.
